(STLMoms) – The country’s obesity epidemic is claiming younger children.  Now research finds weight issues may begin at birth.

A study published in the journal Archives of Disease in Childhood followed more than 1200 babies born in the Boston Area. Researchers found those born by c-section were more than twice as likely to be obese by the age of three.

More studies need to be done to find out the reason for the weight increase, but some suggest antibiotics used in c-sections influence gut bugs in infants, which can impact babies weight.
