Melenie Broyles: Gift Giving Etiquette
(STLMoms) – A lot of kids are finishing up their last few days before Christmas break, so have you figured out what to get their teachers? What about your mail carrier? It can be tough to know what to tip and give this time of year. But Melenie Broyles of Etiquette Saint Louis has some tips for you.
Gift Giving Tips from Melenie:
1. Mail Carrier- Cannot accept cash and nothing over a $20 value. A gift card to an area restaurant is nice. They can have lunch on you one day.
2. Childcare providers or teachers- stay away from candles, mugs, picture frames- try gift cards or additional pay.
3. Salon Services- Typically we tip 20%, at Christmas we may double that or if the service is a smaller amount we could tip them cost of an additional service.
4. Lawn Care or Trash Collector- If you know them by name or have a regular it is nice to tip them a little something. I usually give them a small cash tip.
