(STLMoms) – It’s that time of year when our kids are coming down with all kinds of illnesses, so what is your child taking to get over a cold, fever or sinus infection. Dr. Matt Dougherty with Esse Health talks about getting smart about antibiotics.

When to Use Antibotics:
a.       Common cold:  never
b.      Bronchitis:  almost always never (occasional exceptions)
c.       Sinus infection: usually not needed
d.      Sore throat: never unless it is strep
e.      Ear infections: depends on the age of patient and type of infection but may not need treatment
