(STLMoms) – Is there a cure for the “summertime blues?”  You’re suppose to be having a good time, relaxing, vacationing, but are you finding yourself a bit miserable?  Psychotherapist Dr. Russell Hyken talks about some ways to beat the summertime blues.

Reasons for the depression:
1.     Seasonal Affective Disorder
2.     Disrupted schedule.
3.     Body image issues
4.     Money – summer is expensive.
5.     Heat – while many love the heat, others fall into a reclusive air conditioned trap opting to watch pay per view because it is too hot to go for a walk and get outside.

Here are some tips to help:
1. Plan ahead
2. Sleep vacations, summer barbeques, and more daylight encourage many to stay up and out later than they normally would.
3. Diet and exercise
4. Don`t Beat Yourself Up
