Study – Teens Need “The Talk” About Their Phone
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Parents may need to talk more about mobile safety with their kids. The topic may be as important as other items that top the list of “The Talk”. Mobile devices offer a unique way into children’s private lives and they need to know how to navigate this new form of communication without getting hurt.
Findings from this new study that shows that 39% of kids 12-14 years old know someone that has received a sexual message on their phone. That finding jumps to 53% among children ages 15-17. More than two thirds have answered a call from an unknown number. About half of the survey participants half report riding in a car with someone who was texting while driving.
