(CNN) – Those new laundry detergent packets are doing more than clean your clothes.  Doctors say they’re seeing more and more kids poisoned by them. Poison control centers across the u-s are reporting a rise in cases of children swallowing these laundry detergent packets.

So far, there have been 250 cases of poisonings nationwide.  Missouri reported 25 cases, Illinois reported 26.  Doctors say young kids can confuse the tiny, brightly colored packets as candy.

Swallowing the packets often causes more serious symptoms than traditional detergent because it’s more concentrated.

In some cases, Kids have ended up on ventilators.
